The New Blog

I’ve just finished archiving 61 posts that made up the prior version of this blog. The first post appeared in 2011, after 11 years of practice. The last post was in 2020.

Much of what I previously posted dealt with sexual desire in committed relationships, reflecting years of training and experience with clients who experienced differences in how – or whether – they sexually wanted each other.

Other posts covered a variety of issues that came up in the course of my work over those decades of full-time practice in which I kept 30-40 appointments per week.

I have provided services to two underserved populations: erotically and relationally diverse clients, and military veterans, for over two decades. As always, I follow research of interest to those populations in support of my practice. My continuing education now focuses on trauma treatment and Internal Family systems, a holistic approach helping people understand their sense of self and how they handle challenges & anxieties.

I’ve been practicing as a licensed therapist in Washington for 25 years, and my practice is now on a part-time basis. I have told my clients that I am on a planned “glide path” towards retirement. I don’t know precisely when I will stop working. Practicing helps keep my mind and heart active, engaged and youthful.

I’m re-starting this blog to keep you current on how I think about this work, decades of professional work at a high level, and 70 years of life experience.
