Clinical Social Work Licensure

Washington State

Clinical Social Work is the largest category of licensed professionals providing outpatient mental health care (2019 U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). Clinical social workers are often confused with social workers working in other settings (medical, child/senior protective services.)

The LICSW (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker) designation is the highest level of licensure for Clinical Social Work in the State of Washington. To learn more about the state’s licensure, go here.
