Co-payments and COVID-19

Most health insurance carriers have reduced or suspended “cost sharing” with their subscribers for an extended period. This could well save you money.

“Cost share” means co-payments (“co-pays”), which are fixed amounts that subscribers pay per appointment. It also includes “co-insurance” payments, which is a percentage of the fee paid to the provider by the carrier.

Your health insurance carrier’s actions

You can check on your carrier’s policy here. How much do you save with these new policies? If you are working with a psychotherapist on a weekly basis, and your co-payment is $30, that’s $120 in monthly savings.
